BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, UNION COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of a deadly fire that sent two people to the hospital.

911 officials say they received a report of a house fire at the intersection of Buffalo Road and Church Road a little after 2:00 a.m. Friday.

Chief Steve Walter with the Mifflinburg Hose Company says firefighters arrived on the scene and saw heavy fire on all sides of the home. They reported that someone was still inside the home when they arrived.

Chief Walter said they quickly tried to control “life hazards” and rescue the person inside; however, heavy fire throughout most of the home made it nearly impossible to get inside.

Officials said it took about an hour to suppress the fire. During the response, two people were sent to the hospital and the coroner was called for one person on the scene.

Chief Walter says the house is a total loss.
