BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say during a checkpoint enforcement for Bloomsburg “block party” a previously convicted felon was arrested.

On April 19, officers had a DUI checkpoint on Lightstreet Road in Bloomsburg to help enforcement for the upcoming “block party.” Around 8:00 p.m. a car was stopped and the smell of marijuana was evident, police said.

After an investigation, officers were given consent to search the car, and drugs were found. The occupants were searched for arrest, and a gun was found in the waste band of a passenger later identified as Victor Pichardo-Figueroa.

Pichardo-Figueroa was found to be on adult probation in Lehigh County and officers were instructed to arrest him for the probation violation. A records check showed Pichardo-Figueroa is a convicted felon meaning he is not allowed to possess a weapon, officials stated.

Charges are filed against Pichardo-Figueroa for felons not to possess a firearm and possession of a concealed firearm without a permit.
