EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The Department of Justice (DOJ) will monitor election polls in certain Pennsylvania counties to ensure federal voting laws are followed on Tuesday.

The DOJ announced Tuesday, April 23, that it will be monitoring election polls in Berks, Luzerne, and Philadelphia Counties, to verify federal voting rights laws are complied with.

The Justice Department sent the following letter to the assistant solicitor of Luzerne County regarding election monitoring by the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. DOJ:

According to the Justice Department, the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ enforces federal voting rights laws, protecting the rights of all citizens to vote.
