PLAINS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Getting your garden ready for summer? Heavy rainfall and wet weather have taken a toll on those trying to get their lawns up to par for the season.

Local landscaping companies say damp conditions have put them behind schedule.

They say it makes things like laying topsoil and mulch challenging.

“And now the grass is starting to grow so you know we try to get a lot of that clean-up work done early on and then switch gears as the grass starts to grow, but this time of the year, we’re kind of jumping into both of them at the same time,” owner and president of Green Valley Landscaping Jerry Natishan said.

Experts suggest holding off on getting any summer flowers yet.

He also says a few more sunny days should put you in the clear for getting your lawn or garden ready for the season.
