BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Friday that a bridge preservation project will begin next week in Bloomsburg.

PennDOT says beginning on Wednesday, May 8, the contractor, Spartan Contracting, will start placing work zone signs, equipment, and preparations to begin sand-blasting steel members of the bridges over Fishing Creek in Bloomsburg.

According to PennDOT, those who travel on Route 11 northbound can expect the shoulder to be restricted, and southbound traffic can expect the right lane (driving) to be restricted as well.

Spartan Contracting is the prime contractor for the $1.5 million project and the work they will be doing includes sandblasting, repairs, and painting of the steel members.

Officials say work is expected to be done in the fall of 2024.
