HEMLOCK TOWNSHIP, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT announced Friday that a multi-year reconstruction project will continue on Interstate 80 (I-80) eastbound, just west of the Montour County line and the Route 42 interchange in Hemlock Township, Columbia County, from mile markers 228 through 233.

According to PennDOT on Friday, April 26, the prime contractor of the $11.1 million job, New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc., will continue reconstruction of the right shoulder which will be closed for 20 days behind a temporary barrier and crews will demolish a concrete shoulder during the day with no impact on traffic.

Officials say work will continue through next week between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

PennDOT also advises that from Sunday, April 28, through Friday, May 3, excavation will continue and a temporary barrier will be placed along the right shoulder. Travelers should expect the right (driving) lane to be restricted from 7:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m.

PennDOT officials urge drivers to be alert, slow down, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through a work zone.

Officials say work on this project is expected to be complete in 2025.
