BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was arrested after police say he hit a pedestrian with a car, then fled the scene after crashing the car against a pole.

On April 26 Bloomsburg Police say a pedestrian was hit while walking along the 700 block of Millville Road and the driver of the car fled the scene without stopping.

Officers stated the victim described the suspect’s car and the direction they went. Police said they came upon a crash involving a lime green Dodge Caliber that struck a utility pole. The car matched the description given by the victim, investigators noted.

As stated in the release, the driver had fled the scene on foot after crashing into the pole, and he was later found and identified as Daniel Herrera-Rodriguez.

Herrera-Rodriguez was arrested for suspicion of DUI and later charged for the hit-and-run crash involving the pedestrian.

The victim was taken to the Bloomsburg Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Herrera-Rodriguez remains in the Columbia County Prison.
