2 arrested, 1 injured in Scranton police chase

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say two people were arrested Sunday evening after a foot chase in Scranton.

Shortly before 6:45 p.m., Scranton police say officers were called to the 500 block of Cedar Avenue in Scranton for a reported fight.

When police arrived, they say two people fled the area and the first person was chased into an alley and arrested.

The other person allegedly involved in the fight ran towards the Lackawanna River, authorities told 28/22 News.

K-9s already on scene were used to search the area and police called the Scranton Fire Department for help in the search with their infrared camera, officials explained.

Authorities say they later found the second person near Mattes Avenue at the Lackawanna River riverbed after they had allegedly jumped the fence and fallen about 50 feet, suffering yet-to-be-determined injuries.

Officials say both people allegedly involved in the incident were arrested and charges have yet to be filed.
