PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Luzerne County Children, Youth, and Families hosted its 31st Annual Adoption Celebration Dinner on Monday at the Holiday Inn in Plains Township.
The dinner welcomes back children and their adoptive families.
The event gives children a chance to connect with other kids who have been through the system and have also found a forever home.
The event featured a full range of dinner options, desserts, a magician, and coloring games.

The guest speaker is a father of an adopted child.
"It's exciting for them. They love it. We have coloring tables. We also have craft tables, so the kids really enjoy it. They get to be with the other children that were adopted as well to create like a bond," said Luzerne County Children, Youth and Families Administer Katrina Gownley.
"And so tonight we get to celebrate the fact that they have chosen to change a lifetime. They don't get recognized that often, in our community and in our society. But they are the full-time responders who are making a difference in our communities," said Guest Speaker Vince Smith.
Luzerne County Children, Youth, and Families are celebrating over 69 children being adopted this year.
