HONESDALE, WAYNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It's starting to feel like the holidays in Honesdale. Each year, the Greater Honesdale Partnership, a community-building organization, sets up Christmas trees on the poles that line Main Street.
This is to signal the beginning of the holiday season for the borough and an invitation to this season's activities in the area.
Crews begin Christmas transformation of Public Square
"The trees going up today and the trees being on really brings the holiday spirit to life and it gets the whole holiday season started in Honesdale. And of course on Black Friday we'll have the Christmas parade in town. There'll be the lighting of the tree in the park. Santa Claus will be here and of course, we're going to light the Dick Smith star at Irving Cliff. It's really a hallmark moment! Come on out! It's gonna be a fantastic night!" said Greater Honesdale Partnership President Brian Wilken.
The lights on the trees come on at sunset on Monday.
