Officials getting ready for US Senate race vote recount in PA

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — It seems the incumbent Pennsylvania US Senator Bob Casey is going to need quite a surge of votes from a recount to hold onto his seat in Washington.

With nearly all of the estimated vote total reported, Casey trails Republican Dave McCormick by a little more than 17,000 votes.

The margin is about a quarter of a percentage point.

Due to the razor-thin margin, all counties in the commonwealth were ordered to hold a recount. It must begin by Wednesday.

Representatives from both race runners released statements on Monday on the order.

Senator Casey is fighting to ensure Pennsylvanians’ voices are heard and to protect their right to participate in our democracy – just like he has done throughout his entire career. Meanwhile, David McCormick and the national Republicans are working to throw out provisional ballots cast by eligible Pennsylvania voters and accepted by county boards. It is wrong and we will fight it.

Today’s ruling is a massive setback to Senator Casey’s attempt to count illegal ballots. Bucks County and others blatantly violated the law in an effort to help Senator Casey. Senator-elect McCormick is very pleased with this ruling and looks forward to taking the Oath of Office in a few short weeks.
