Bear Creek Township sees steady snowfall

BEAR CREEK TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One spot of higher elevation in Luzerne County that continued to see snowfall on Thursday is the Bear Creek area.

They've seen a steady snowfall all afternoon and evening.

It was very quiet out in Bear Creek Township as the snow continued to steadily come down.

The snow is starting to accumulate more and more on Route 115 and stick to the roads.

Bear Creek Township is one of the areas in our region expected to see real snowfall come through because of its higher elevation.

It's been coming down heavy for most of the day as people have been traveling up and down this state route.

How much snow will Pennsylvania see Friday?

Still, there's lots of low visibility, mild winds, and steady snowfall.

PennDOT is making sure to stay on top of things with crews out there plowing and salting the road.

Certain vehicles are temporarily restricted on Interstate 81, 84, and 380.

Speed limits are reduced to 45 miles per hour on Interstate 84, 81, and 380.

Some include tractors with trailers, school buses, and motorcycles.

One man was traveling through Bear Creek on Thursday on his way to the Poconos and felt the conditions were doable, but was concerned for drivers if they continued to worsen.

"Not too bad they seem to have treated the roads. I did see some trucks out but to be honest, if it continues like this it's going to get pretty bad and I recommend people staying home, and the drivers don't realize how slick these roads can get when the winter conditions come," said Wilkes-Barre man Luciano Ramos.

These conditions are expected to continue throughout Thursday night and into Friday morning.
