Man faces charges after police standoff in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police released details after a stand-off in Wilkes-Barre Tuesday shut down a road for a few hours.

According to investigators, on November 19 around 2:00 p.m., officers were called to Terrace Street for a man refusing to leave a house and threatening to shoot Luzerne County Sheriff's Department deputies.

Police said on the scene deputies told them they were at the house to serve a PFA eviction to Robert Gronski, 62, of Wilkes-Barre, who said he was "going to shoot them and let his dogs out after them."

Gronski would come to the door multiple times refusing to work with officers and saying "stay the (expletive) off his property," as stated in the affidavit.

Investigators reported that officers were made aware that Gronski had multiple long guns and several aggressive animals.

Eventually, police ended the stand-off and Gronski was later arrested on the charges of terrorist threats.
