Five charged in connection to festival fights at Kirby Park

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A total of five people are charged after police say a fight broke out at Kirby Park Cherry Blossom Festival, involving three teenagers.

On April 28 around 9:00 p.m., Wilkes-Barre City Police reported officers were called to Harkins Lane for a home invasion.

Once on the scene, officers said the victim claimed two people, Dionte Taylor, 29, and Kiara Wynn, 22, both of Wilkes-Barre, came onto her property and began yelling at her to "come outside."

The victim reported that Taylor then kicked the front door open, and along with Wynn, entered her home, and threatened her and others inside the house with harm before fleeing the scene, as stated in the release.

Police say the victim heard a single gunshot while Taylor and Wynn fled her property and officers later found evidence indicating that a gunshot had been fired.

Investigators stated they located Taylor and Wynn at Stanton Street and when Wynn was told she was being arrested she resisted and tried to flee on foot from police.

It was learned that Wynn and Taylor threatened the victim after a fight happened between three teenagers at the Cherry Blossom Festival, as stated in the affidavit.

Eventually, both Wynn and Taylor were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters while they waited for arraignment on charges.
