SCOTT TOWNSHIP – An officer attempted to stop a Pontiac sedan shortly before 1 AM Friday in the area of Tenny St & Old Berwick Rd, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed on Riverview Ave.
One person fled on foot after the vehicle wrecked at the dead end of Worman St.
The suspect, Neiko Lee Zalonka, 24, of New Ringgold, is described as a white male, 5'10", approximately 175-180 lbs, with short red hair, blue eyes, and glasses, last known to be wearing blue jeans, a hooded sweatshirt, and one shoe. He is wanted out of Berks County and has a history of drug related convictions.
Officers were unable to locate the suspect after searching the area between Riverview Ave and the river using thermal cameras and night vision.
Pottsville City Police were unable to make contact with the vehicle's owner.
The suspect was later spotted by an officer in the area of Snyder Ave & Old Berwick Rd. Additional officers returned to search the area, but remained unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
Scott Township Police were assisted by officers from the Town of Bloomsburg, Bloomsburg University, Briar Creek Township, Hemlock Township, South Centre Township, and Pennsylvania State Police.
