HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say an investigation is underway after a car, idling to warm up, was stolen.
On February 2 around 2:45 pm. officers were called to the Carson and 12th Street area in Hazleton City for a report of a stolen vehicle.
Officers said that the owner of a 2012 Dodge Avenger went outside and started the car to warm it, then went inside to wait. When the owner went to leave, they noticed the car was gone.

Police say the suspect appeared to be wearing an oversized winter coat with the hood up and light-colored pants.
Hazleton City Police is reminding residents not to leave their cars running with the keys in them. They say it creates an opportunity for a criminal to steal the vehicle. Remember to lock your car, use a remote start (if you have one), and stay with your vehicle when warming it up.
Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to contact Ptlm. Ohuche at (570) 459-4940 ext. 223.
