DALLASTOWN, YORK COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Attorney General Dave Sunday's office says they have charged a man in the first AI-involved child pornography case since the passing of the law in Pennsylvania in 2024.
The Attorney General's office says 22-year-old Luke Teipel, of Dallastown, has been charged with 33 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, including artificially generated images.

Sunday's office says agents recovered a cellphone traced to Taipel that contained 29 files of alleged artificially generated child sexual abuse material, including non-artificially generated images on the phone and a laptop as well.
ACT 125 updated prior laws to prohibit the use of A.I. technology to create materials that "authentically depict a child under 18" engaging in sexually abusive acts that did not occur in reality.
“This proactive investigation uncovered a defendant weaponizing modern technology to victimize and harm children. We now have a law on the books that enables the filing of serious felony charges in AI cases that we previously could not prosecute. These charges are just a first step in using this new law to protect our communities and our children," stated Attorney General Sunday.
The investigation into how the materials were created is ongoing.
