(WHTM) — Penn State football has announced that two new transfers and the best high school recruit in West Virginia will join the Nittany Lions this fall.
Penn State football formally announced the additions of linebacker Amare Campbell, wide receiver Trebor Peña, and defensive end Daniel Jennings to the program.
Campbell will join the Nittany Lions as a transfer from North Carolina after starting all 13 games at linebacker for the Tar Heels in 2024. He finished with 76 tackles (45 solo), 10.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two pass breakups, and five quarterback hurries that season.
Peña appeared in 13 games and made 10 starts with the Syracuse Orange, posting 941 yards on 84 receptions with nine touchdowns in 2024. The 84 receptions were the fifth most in a single season in Syracuse history, while the 941 yards were 10th. Peña also had 12 carries for 72 yards and a touchdown that year. He earned second-team All-ACC honors and was named to Pro Football Focus' All-ACC Team as a return specialist in 2021.
Ranked the No. 1 player in West Virginia, the No. 29 edge rusher, and the No. 358 overall player by 247Sports, Jennings was an ESPN four-star recruit signed as a member of the 2025 Penn State recruiting class out of Princeton High School in West Virginia. He earned all-state honors during his senior year after recording 38 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks as a defensive end. On offense, Jennings rushed for 1,373 yards and scored 23 touchdowns as a 6'2", 250 lbs. running back.
Penn State's Class of 2025 features 14 offensive and 14 defensive players, including players from 11 states. The Nittany Lions signed 21 prospects from Pennsylvania or bordering states.
