(WHTM) - Penn State men's basketball has added Slovenian forward Tibor Mirtič to its roster for the 2025-26 season.

Listed at 6'9, Mirtič played in Slovenia's top professional league, averaging 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 26 games. He also registered eight double-digit scoring performances and two double-doubles.

Last year, Mirtič also played in the ABA League, averaging 11.5 points per game while shooting 66.2% from two-point range and 44.4% on three-point shots.

He's also competed internationally in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers for the Slovenian National Team, as well as two FIBA U20, the 2021 U18, and the U16 European Championships.

“Tibor is a strong and versatile forward that can play multiple positions," said Penn State head coach Mike Rhoades. "His feel for the game and strength will impact our program, and his international playing experience will have him ready to help our program immediately.  He will bring a mature and tough approach. I am really excited to coach and mentor Tibor.”

Penn State basketball celebrates program’s historic 1st round pick, Yanic Konan Niederhauser

Rhoades had hinted at adding more players to a young Nittany Lions roster during this week's workout. Penn State lost several players from last season's roster, including first round pick Yanic Konan Niederhauser, top scorer Ace Baldwin Jr, Zach Hicks, and Andrew Funk.

Freddie Dilione V is the only returning Nittany Lion who averaged more than 10 minutes a game last year. The program says they're bringing in “the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history," featuring Kayden Mingo, Mason Blackwood, Reggie Grodin, Croatian forward Ivan Juric, and Camp Hill’s Justin Houser this season.

“Our summer is building bonds. Let’s build our team together, and we’ve gotta bond,” said Rhoades. “We don’t have to have everything here in today but we want to have a lot in by November 4.”
