Father faces assault charges after death of infant, bail set at $1 million

(WJET/WFXP) – On Thursday, we told you that Pennsylvania police were conducting an investigation following the death of an infant. Now, the father of that child is facing several assault charges, and his bond has been set at $1 million.

District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, with the McKean County DA's Office, reported that the City of Bradford Police charged Tyler Prescott with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child for injuries inflicted on his 2-year-old son between July 17 and August 14.

According to the DA's Office, EMS and police initially responded to a call for an unresponsive infant on Sherman Street in Bradford, Pennsylvania, in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 14.

The child was later pronounced dead at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.

On that same day, Prescott was arraigned, and his bail was set at $1 million.

The DA's Office stated that "additional charges are likely pending the results of an autopsy and lab analysis of the forensic examiner’s findings."

The investigation regarding this incident is ongoing, and an autopsy of the child has been scheduled.
