A super load that will move through several north central Pennsylvania counties is scheduled to begin tonight, Wednesday, February 15, in north central Pennsylvania.
The move will originate from Waverly NY, and will be transported to the Moxie Power Plant east of Berwick in Luzerne County.
The load is classified as a super load due to its weight and dimensions. It weighs more than 900,000 pounds, is 345 feet long (including carrier), 20 feet wide and 18 feet high.
The travel route will be from Waverly NY to Route 220 south in Bradford County, PA to the Route 220 south off- and on-ramps at Route 4022 (Sayre/South Waverly Exit), back to Route 220 south to the off- and on-ramps at Route 6 (Troy/Towanda Exit), back to Route 220 south to Route 42 south at Beech Glen in Sullivan County, to Route 239 south in Lycoming County, to Route 487 south through Benton in Columbia County, to Interstate 80 east at the Light Street Interchange, to Route 11 south at Lime Ridge, then passing through the PennDOT Lime Ridge stockpile to Route 11 north through Berwick to Route 4002 (Mingle Inn Road) west to the power plant.
This is scheduled to be a five-day move with all moves made during the night between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The schedule is as follows:
Night 1: Route 220 at the New York State Line to the intersection of Route 4018 in Athens Township, Bradford County, 5.1 miles;
Night 2: Route 220 from the intersection of Route 4018 to the bridge over Route 3018 in Towanda Township, Bradford County, 13.4 miles;
Night 3: Route 220 from the bridge over Route 3018 to just north of the intersection with Route 87 in Dushore Borough, Sullivan County, 19.1 miles;
Night 4: Route 220 from just north of Route 87 to the PennDOT stockpile on Route 11 in South Centre Township, Columbia County, 56.3 miles;
Night 5: Route 11 north from the PennDOT stockpile at Lime Ridge to the Moxie Power Plant entrance in Salem Township, Luzerne County, 14.7 miles.
Due to the width of load, traffic will be unable to pass the load in either direction on two-lane highways and will be unable to pass the load eastbound while it is traveling on I-80 east. There will be areas where the super load will pull over to allow vehicles to pass. This may be done with the assistance of flaggers.
