Superior Court Candidate to Visit Bloomsburg Fair

Superior Court candidate Jill Beck will visit the Bloomsburg Fair on Saturday, September 23rd. She is scheduled to arrive at 2:00 p.m. Accompanying Beck will be candidates running for local office in Columbia County.

Beck has made it a purpose to visit all 67 counties in the state before the primary to speak with regular Pennsylvanians about the effects of the judiciary system on everyday life. Her campaign for Superior Court did not slow her down, as she has traveled to nearly all 67 counties again since the start.

Who is Jill Beck?

Beck, a lifelong Pittsburgh native, has always had a passion for serving the underprivileged. She would work as a counselor for troubled girls while earning her bachelor’s degree at George Washington University.

Later, Beck would work as an assistant forensic interviewer at the Child Advocacy Center at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She earned her bachelor’s degree with honors and worked with young people on probation through an AmeriCorps Fellowship. Beck would enroll in the law program at Duquesne University.

She would continue working with kids by joining KidsVoice, where she would use her law degree to advocate for neglected and mistreated kids in court. Before magistrate district judges, the Court of Common Pleas, and the Pennsylvania Superior Court, Beck would represent up to 225 children at once.

In 2008, KidsVoice recognized her for her advocacy. She received the Children’s Voice Award from Allegheny County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in 2010.

Beck wanted to serve in Pennsylvania’s appellate courts from the other side of the bench as a result of her experience fighting for children. She would devote the following ten years of her career to the public good, working as the Honorable Christine Donohue’s legal clerk on Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court and Superior Court.

Beck has been endorsed by labor unions across Pennsylvania, like the AFSCME District Council 13 and the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, and has been Highly Recommended by the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
