LEWISBURG — The gravel section of Lewisburg Borough Municipal Parking Lot 4 has reopened. The lot is located along Cherry Alley between North Sixth and North Seventh streets (behind Brendan's Towne Tavern). The borough has completed most of its floodplain restoration project activities along this section of Limestone/Bull Run and the northern section of the parking lot has been covered with a new layer of gravel and lined for parking. Angled parking spaces and parallel parking spaces are now available in this lot, according to borough officials. The paved section of Lewisburg Borough Municipal Parking Lot 4 will be closed from Sept. 23 to Sept. 27 for routine maintenance activities. The paved section of the parking lot will be posted in advance giving owners ample opportunity to move their vehicles before 6:30 a.m. on Sep. 23. Any vehicles remaining in that section of the parking lot at that time will be ticketed and towed by the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department, according to borough officials.Later this fall, Lewisburg Borough will plant more than a dozen native trees in the restored floodplain area along Limestone/Bull Run. When the Pennsylvania wildflower seed mix blooms next spring and with the planting of the trees, the borough expects many native insects, birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals to populate what had been before a relatively ecologically barren area of cut grass, according to borough officials.— JUSTIN STRAWSER
