LEWISBURG — East Buffalo Township plans to apply for $1.4 million in PennDOT Multimodal grant funding toward improvements on West Market Street.At Monday night's public meeting, the township supervisors voted to apply for $1,438,500 in state funding by the Nov. 5 deadline for the second phase of the West Market Street Safety Improvement Project. The grant requires a 30 percent match.The second phase is $2.5 million, Supervisor Chair Jim Knight said.Knight also said the deadline to apply for the state Department of Community and Economic Development's Local Share Grant is Nov. 30. The supervisors would use the grant funding for the deteriorating salt shed or phases of the West Market Street Safety Improvement Project.“They’re pretty competitive and they’re pretty political, so you got to get support from your representative and your senator,” Knight said.— JUSTIN STRAWSER
