SELINSGROVE — The main character in Sarah Cypher’s novel is Betty, a young woman trying to learn more about her family’s past, especially about the secrets her great-aunt hid to help the family when they emigrated to the United States. It could be the story of almost any young American woman from any time period, except that Betty’s family comes from Nablus, a Palestinian city in the West Bank, and Betty is queer, and her skin is bright, cobalt blue.
