MIFFLINBURG — One of the men involved in the theft of copper pipe and wiring at the former Laurelton Center is headed to Union County Court.Michael Shawn Klingensmith, 60, of Furer Drive, Sarver, waived his right to preliminary hearings on Tuesday in front of Mifflinburg District Judge Jeffrey Mensch on both of his cases. Klingensmith faces a total of seven felonies in total: three counts of burglary, one count of criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, two counts of criminal trespass, one count of theft of secondary metal and one count of criminal mischief; one misdemeanor count of theft by unlawful taking; and one summary count of defiant trespass.Klingensmith is scheduled for formal arraignment in front of Union County Judge Michael Piecuch at 8:30 a.m. May 5.State police accuse Klingensmith, Gerad Daniel Ogershok, 37, of Oak Street, Russellton, and Christopher Duane Hall, 41, of Garfield Street, New Kensington, of breaking into the former Laurelton Center, at 19200 Old Turnpike Road, Hartley Township, and causing $12,000 worth of damage while they took $7,150 worth of copper pipes and wire on Feb. 3.They returned on Feb. 5 to the 266-acre vacant complex along Route 45 located in the western end of Union County to repeat their theft, but were thwarted by state police, according to the criminal complaints.All three men remain incarcerated in Union County Jail on varying bail amounts.— JUSTIN STRAWSER
