LEWISBURG — A Lewisburg man accused of raping an 11-year-old boy in 2022 is scheduled for trial in November in Union County Court of Common Pleas.On Monday, a jury of six men and six women was selected for the case of Cory Michael Gower, 34, of Stein Lane, Lewisburg. The trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 17 and 18 in front of Union County Judge Michael Piecuch.Gower was charged by Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department with six felony counts of rape of a victim less than 13 years old, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a victim less than 13 years old, indecent assault and corruption of minors; and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children.The mother of the now 12-year-old victim reported to police on Oct. 28 that her son had been sexually assaulted by Gower between May 2022 and October 2022 at Gower’s residence in East Buffalo Township. The child has a “general intellectual disability,” police said.A relative of the victim told police that she overheard the child talking about Gower’s actions and conversations with the boy that were sexual in nature, police said.— JUSTIN STRAWSER
