MILTON — The Milton Police Department is attempting to identify suspects for an investigation into placing a skimming device on a payment terminal within the Borough of Milton. Skimming is when someone puts a device called "a skimmer" on a credit card reading device, such as an ATM, to steal personal credit card information. According to Milton Police, the suspects placed a skimming device on a terminal/point of purchase on Feb. 7 and returned on Feb. 14 to retrieve data from the terminal. The device was located on Feb. 16 by management and turned over to the police. The suspects returned on Feb. 21 at around 2:07 p.m. in an attempt to obtain more information. Police were notified, but the suspects fled on foot and were not located. Their photos are posted on the Milton Police Facebook page. The suspects used a gray Ford Explorer with an unknown tag during the commission of the crime. Fraudulent purchases were made on EBT accounts that used the terminal while the skimmer was active. Anyone with information or who encounters a suspicious purchase on an account originating within the borough should notify the Milton Police Department at 570-742-8757 or 570-742-8771.
