MIDDLEBURG — The state is investing $6.6 million in emergency medical services (EMS) agencies across the commonwealth to recruit, train and equip first responders and improve call responses. A majority of the funding from the EMS Operating Fund will be distributed to the state’s 13 Regional EMS Councils, which oversee Pennsylvania’s EMS agencies and assist more than 2.2 million Pennsylvanians every year.Seven Mountains EMS Council, which serves Northumberland, Snyder, Union, Montour, Juniata, Mifflin, Columbia, Centre and Clinton counties, will receive $294,701."EMS professionals are called to care for people in their times of need and when they arrive, we expect them to be well-trained and equipped to respond," Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen said. “We need to ensure that they have the necessary training and equipment to save lives and provide safe transport to the hospital."
