LEWISBURG — A Montgomery man accused of punching a game warden at State Game Lands near the lost village of Alvira pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest in Union County Court.On Friday, Michael James Bartholomew, 30, of Sherwood Drive, Montgomery, entered the plea before Union County Judge Michael Piecuch. In pleading no contest, Bartholomew did not admit guilt but acknowledged there was enough evidence for a jury to find him guilty.The plea agreement, if accepted by the judge, calls for a 12-month probationary sentence. All other charges, including two felony counts of aggravated assault, will be dismissed.The Pennsylvania Game Commission said Bartholomew, on July 9, 2024, was approached by two game wardens while on State Game Lands 252 near Allenwood. He allegedly tried to pull a pellet gun from his pants, punched one of the wardens in the face, and then attempted to strike the second warden in the groin.A sentencing date has not been scheduled.— JUSTIN STRAWSER
