LEWISBURG — A pre-trial conference will be rescheduled in the attempted homicide case against Robert Kitchens.On Monday, Union County Judge Michael Piecuch granted a continuance for Kitchens, 69, of Route 192, Buffalo Township, and his attorney, Public Defender Brian Ulmer, of Lewisburg. Kitchens is accused of attempted criminal homicide and related charges stemming from a confrontation on Dec. 4."Considering the severity of the charges, we're going to need time to review the case," Ulmer said.District Attorney Brian Kersetter did not oppose the continuance request.Kitchens is charged with attempted criminal homicide, two felony counts of aggravated assault; and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.Following a confrontation over heating bills on Dec. 4, Kitchens used a paring knife to stab Terry Day Jr., who lives in a detached structure on Kitchens’ property. The victim was treated for two stab wounds to his chest and a stab wound to his arm, police said.Kitchens remains a Union County inmate in lieu of $300,000 cash bail.— JUSTIN STRAWSER
