LEWISBURG — The annual Sidewalk Chalk Festival scheduled for Friday is postponed due to the poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke drifting into the region from the Canadian and Minnesota wildfires.The Lewisburg Arts Council on Thursday issued a statement postponing the event because the "health and safety of our artists, families, volunteers and visitors always comes first.""We have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Sidewalk Chalk Festival," the council said. "Air quality alerts have been issued across Pennsylvania, and outdoor activities are not recommended, especially for children and other sensitive groups. We know this is disappointing, and we were looking forward to seeing Market Street transformed into a colorful outdoor gallery. We’re already working to secure a new date and will share those details as soon as they’re confirmed."The council thanked the community for being understanding.
