LEWISBURG — Joanne Landis will be the featured artist at Gallery 255 at the Public Library for Union County in September.The exhibit is called Women Standing, an exhibition of narrative oil paintings by Joanne Landis. An artist reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 28, where she will discuss her artwork and creative process.A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, Joanne is a native New Yorker whose work explores archetypes, mythology and personal experience through large-scale oil-on-canvas paintings. She describes herself as a narrative painter."My figures, mostly women, are often meditations on archetypes, myth or personal experience," Landis said. "This allows me to build an environment inhabited by beings with all that it means to be human, alive and still in a dream."Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions.The Public Library for Union County is located at 255 Reitz Boulevard, Lewisburg. Library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
