Rape charges waived to Union County...

MIFFLINBURG — A Mifflinburg man accused of raping two young girls over two years in Buffalo Township waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday.All charges filed against Jeffery Scott Burrows, 39, of Mifflinburg, were waived to Union County Court. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing in front of Mifflinburg District Judge Jeffrey Mensch on Tuesday.Burrows was charged with 12 felonies: two counts each of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, indecent assault of a victim less than 13 years of age and aggravated indecent assault of a child; and two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault without consent.Burrows is scheduled for a formal arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 2 in front of Union County Judge Michael Piecuch.The victims, ages 10 and 8, said they were sexually abused by Burrows at his residence on Furnace Road in Buffalo Township between October 2022 and 2024, police said.Burrows was released from Union County Jail following a hearing at which his combined bail was set at $150,000 unsecured.— JUSTIN STRAWSER
