GREGG TOWNSHIP — The Gregg Township Municipal Authority was awarded a $400,000 Statewide Local Share Account grant Tuesday from the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support the televising, inspection and cleaning of sewer lines and lateral connections throughout the authority’s wastewater collection system.“We are grateful for Representative Jamie Flick and Senator Gene Yaw’s continued support as we work to provide reliable public utility services to the residents we serve,” authority board Chairman James J. Carey said. “This funding will help us proactively maintain our wastewater system by identifying and addressing potential issues before they become costly emergencies.”The project will include televising approximately 55,000 linear feet of sewer lines and inspecting and cleaning roughly 500 lateral connections in Gregg Township, Union County, and Brady Township, Lycoming County. Using specialized camera equipment, inspectors will assess system conditions and identify existing or potential issues within the collection system.Constructed in 1992, the wastewater system serves 233 residential customers, numerous commercial businesses, and the Federal Correctional Complex in Allenwood.
