Craft and vendor show to fundraise for spring play

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Luzerne County High School fundraised for an upcoming candy classic show it will be putting on in March.

A craft and vendor show held at the Greater Nanticoke Area High School featured more than 40 vendors to help the Drama Club raise money for their spring production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Spring and March merchandise for St. Patrick's Day and Easter were on display for people to purchase at the craft fair.

Savory treats and tea were part of a pop-up tea event that took place alongside the event.

After a successful debut last year with more than 1,000 people in attendance for The Wizard of Oz, David Baker, head of the Drama Club expects nothing less of the community than great support this year as well.

"The community really does show up for these events. Nanticoke is a great community, last year for our show, we did the Wizard of Oz. We had 700 people come for our opening night. That was just unprecedented. The Nanticoke community is good at supporting their own," Baker said.

The production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will take place on March 8 at 7:00 p.m., March 9 at 7:00 p.m., and March 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greater Area Nanticoke High School.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
