One dead in Monroe County fatal crash

COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One man is dead after a fatal motor vehicle crash occurred in Monroe County on Sunday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) on Sunday around 2:30 a.m. 22-year-old, Steven McKenna, was driving South on Interstate 380 (I-380) at mile marker 5.1 when for an unknown reason, McKenna abruptly veered to the right, leaving the roadway and striking an embankment.

PSP says after hitting the embankment the vehicle continued and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to rotate on its axis before coming to a stop on the side of the embankment.

Officials at the scene say McKenna was found on the passenger side of the vehicle and the Monroe County Deputy Coroner pronounced McKenna dead at 3:46 a.m.
