MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police say they have charged a 12-year-old boy after threats were made toward a Monroe County middle school.
On Friday around 11:00 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police say they learned of threats of a possible school shooting directed towards multiple administrators at the Pleasant Valley Middle School.
State troopers said they, along with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, investigated the threat and determined a 12-year-old boy as a suspect.

On Monday, state troopers officially filed charges against the unnamed 12-year-old.
Authorities say the boy was charged with causing or risking a catastrophe, threatening to useweapons of mass destruction, terroristic threats, and reckless endangerment.
The 12-year-old was transported to a juvenile detention center in NorthamptonCounty, according to the release.
Pennsylvania State Police said they would like parents/guardians and neighboring community members to know that these threats are taken extremely seriously and that although an arrest was made, a large police presence may be visible at the school over the next few days.
