Apparent death investigation in Wilkes-Barre home continues

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are back on the scene of an apparent death investigation in Wilkes-Barre.

Police have been on Carlisle Street for almost 13 hours. Investigators are not saying officially why they are here but based on what we have seen this appears to be a death investigation.

Investigators have been at 142 Carlisle Street in South Wilkes-Barre coming and going all day. The Forensics anthropology team from Mercyhurst University in Erie specializes in identifying remains, mainly bones or skeletal remains to determine if they are human or animal.

Neighbors say the house has been vacant for several months even, Evan Hiby lives two doors away.

"About two weeks ago people came with trailers pulling everything out of the house. It was a mess about 30 mattresses there. They had three dumpsters full of stuff. It was chaotic."

Gary Muchler loves across the street, he says the house has been a trouble spot in recent years.

"There was always something unusual at the house. They were always fighting, and screaming. The cops were down just for noise. Toward the end, there were all kinds of different people living there."

Several blocks of Carlisle Street were blocked off Wednesday. Neighbors like Anthony Bloom say they've never seen anything like it.

"Last night I went out to smoke, and I saw the cops there. They were going in and out of the house for a couple of hours with shovels and buckets."

Neighbors say the people who lived there moved out in January.

This a developing story, we will update you with the latest as it is released.
