First responders called to four-home fire in Minersville

MINERSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— First responders were called to the scene of a second-alarm fire in Schuylkill County Thursday morning.

Deputy Chief Jim O'Brien of the Minersville Fire Department said first responders were called to the 300 block of Pleasant Street, Minersville, at 4:37 a.m. Thursday.

Deputy Chief O'Brien told 28/22 News the fire spread to four homes on Pleasant Street.

In total, officials said the Red Cross was called to help eight people displaced by the fire. Two of the homes were occupied by one person each and a third home was occupied by a family of six. The fourth home was unoccupied.

Thousands without power across NEPA

According to Deputy Chief O'Brien, there were no injuries on the scene.

First responder officials said an evacuation notice was issued for the building.

A Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of Thursday morning's fire.
