Coroner called to Northumberland County police incident

NORTHUMBERLAND, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Officials say the coroner has been called to the scene of a police incident in Northumberland County.

Details are limited at this time, but first responder officials tell us that police were dispatched to the report of shots fired in the 400 block of Duke Street just after 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Local police departments, state police, and a special emergency response team were all dispatched to the incident according to the Northumberland County Communications Center.

Man charged with homicide in Northumberland County

A 911 official told 28/22 News the coroner was called to the scene. 

Crews that were called to assist in the incident were released around 6:20 a.m.; however, police units remained on the scene to conduct their investigation.

Fire police were called for traffic control to shut down the roads during the police incident, but the roads have since reopened according to the communications center.

What led up to the response and what happened during it has not been released at this time.
