Lottery winner honored in Northumberland County

MOUNT CARMEL, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Representatives from the Pennsylvania lottery stopped by Friendly Choice Food Mart in Mount Carmel with a big check.

Oliver Golden won $1,000 a week for life on a scratch-off ticket called the Game of Life.

The Northumberland County resident said they would use the prize money to pay for a trip to Disney World and Ireland.

"It's unbelievable, quite honestly. I never thought that something like this would happen to somebody like me. So for it to happen is, it's very out of body, like you still kind of don't believe that it's happening," said Golden.

"Oliver's been coming into the store for a long time since as long as I worked there started here about four years ago you get to know that person know the family and in the end, it's just kind of like this person won so you kind of feel like you won," said Friendly Choice Food Mart Cashier Ashley Phillips.

Golden also plans to follow through on his dream of going to medical school to become a doctor.
