Columbia County man charged with possession of child porn

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A Schuylkill County man is facing charges after police say he was in possession of child pornography.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that on Tuesday, March 12, Vincent Shaffer, 44, of Schuylkill County, was indicted by a federal grand jury for possession of child pornography.

According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the indictment alleges that on August 20, 2023, Shaffer received child sexual abuse material, and on a separate occasion in Columbia County, on December 7, 2023, Shaffer still had the child porn.

According to federal law, the maximum penalty Shaffer faces for these offenses is 20 years, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years, a term of supervised release, and a fine.
