PennDOT announces work scheduled in Columbia County

COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) says an "Intersection Improvement Project" is only one of the scheduled projects crews are set to work on Monday, April 1 in Columbia County.

According to PennDOT an "Intersection Improvement Project" is scheduled to begin next week at the intersection of Route 42 (Mall Boulevard) and Route 4003 (Frosty Valley Road) in Hemlock Township, Columbia County.

PennDOT says on Monday, April 1, phase 1 of the project will begin and those traveling on the road should expect two lanes of traffic on the northbound side of Mall Boulevard while the contractor performs work on the southbound side.

Officials say crews will be working on the project from Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Hemlock Township.

Two-year roadway project continues on Interstate 180

According to PennDOT, the project is expected to be complete in June 2024 and will also include the installation of a traffic signal, road widening, and the addition of turning lanes.

PennDOT is also advising drivers of a lane restriction beginning on Monday on Route 11 (West Main Street) in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, for tree trimming.

PennDOT officials say on Monday, April 1, the northbound lane of West Main Street will be restricted between Leonard Street and Barton Avenue, while Susquehanna Tree Care, performs tree trimming near the intersection.

Those traveling are advised to expect road conditions to be down to a single lane with flagging, as crews are expected to work between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. weather permitting.

Officials say when encountering a work zone all travelers should expect delays and lane changes while driving with caution.
