Reconstruction project continues on I-80E in Columbia County

COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Monday that a multi-year reconstruction project will continue this week on Interstate 80 eastbound.

PennDOT says crews are working on the project just west of the Montour County line and the Route 42 interchange in Hemlock Township, Columbia County.

According to PennDOT, previously scheduled work had been postponed due to inclement weather, and the revised schedule is as follows:

Wilkes-Barre City PD looks to identify suspects

On Thursday, April 4, and Friday, April 5, the contractor, New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. will begin placing long-term road signs between the Montour / Columbia County line, around 3 miles east of Exit 224 (Route 54 / Danville) in Valley Township, Montour County and Exit 233 (Route 42 / Buckhorn), Hemlock Township, Columbia County. Work will be performed along the shoulder between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

On Sunday, April 7, and Monday, April 8, crews will work along the left shoulder of I-80 East between mile markers 228 and 230. Drivers should expect the left (passing) lane to be restricted where crews will be working from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

On Tuesday, April 9, crews will be setting barriers along the right (driving) lane, in preparation for a lane reconstruction near mile marker 231. Travelers can expect the right (driving) lane to be restricted while the barrier is being placed. Once the barrier is set, two lanes of traffic shifted to the left. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

PennDOT urges drivers to stay alert, slow down, and drive with caution when encountering a work zone.
