Casey, McCormick hitting campaign trail in US Senate race

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Both Bob Casey and Dave McCormick have been hitting the campaign trail in recent days making several stops across the commonwealth.

The contest between Casey and McCormick is expected to cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Casey is seeking his fourth term, he's also perhaps Pennsylvania's best-known politician, the son of a former two-term governor, and is Pennsylvania's longest-ever serving Democrat in the Senate.

McCormick is a two-time senate challenger, a former hedge fund CEO who lost narrowly in 2022's seven-way GOP primary.

On Tuesday, McCormick was on the trail in Lancaster and Pittsburgh.

Senator Casey voted at Scranton High School Tuesday morning before heading back to Washington to vote on the foreign aid package.

Luzerne County manager reports minimal issues with election

"If you like the status quo. If you think the country is headed in the right direction, If you like this economy if you like the boarder policies. If you are comfortable with the crime in our cities then you should vote for Bob Casey. Bob Casey is the status quo, Bob Casey has voted 98% of the time with Joe Biden. If you want change if you want somebody who's going to be an agent for change who's going to fight for the people of Pennsylvania to get our country back on track I'm your guy," McCormick said.

"You have an out-of-state candidate, being funded and backed by oppa state billionaires, I think the people of Pennsylvania understand that when you have a candidate like that. You can't trust them to be on the side of families, and to be on the side of the vulnerable," Casey explained.

The race to November begins. Both candidates hit the road again on Wednesday.

Casey will be in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday and McCormick be in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
