PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Seven Tubs Recreation Area located off Route 115 within Pinchot State Forest District, has officially reopened.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR), The Seven Tubs Recreation Area reopened on Friday, April 5.
The DCNR announced the temporary closure of The Seven Tubs last year to improve the recreation area with a $1.5 million project.
Due to a substantial increase in visitor usage, the 123-acre sight has led to crowded parking areas, increased litter, noise, and other complaints.

According to DCNR, staff presence has been increased to help solve these issues, and visitors are reminded of the following area rules:
No open fires, including charcoal grills
No organized picnicking
No biking or horseback riding on trails
All dogs must be on a leash
No diving or jumping off of rocks or cliffs
No loud music
No camping
No hunting
Visitors are also required to practice, "carry in, carry out" for trash and dog waste, officials say.
DCNR also reminds any Seven Tubs visitors to expect delays due to a PennDOT bridge replacement project on Route 115 over Interstate 81 in Plains Township.
