Wilkes-Barre police investigating two shootings

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two shootings are under investigation in Wilkes-Barre City.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning, two shooting incidents were reported.

On Wednesday around 2:00 p.m., officers were called to the area of South Franklin Street and Ingham Street for a report of gunshots being heard in the area. Officers said on the scene found evidence indicating that shots had been fired, however, no persons or property were struck by the gunfire.

Then on Thursday around 2:00 a.m., police say they responded to the area of 182 Brook Street for a report of two people claiming that a man had shot a gun towards them.

Officers got in touch with the victims, two women, ages 42 and 34 from Hanover Township, who said that an unknown man had fired a single gunshot at them before fleeing. Both victims were not injured.

The investigation for both shootings is ongoing.
