Peacock has 'The Office' spinoff in the works

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — For those who love Dunder Mifflin, the streaming service Peacock says they're bringing back the world of "The Office."

Coming back with a new version of the show, created by Greg Daniels, and developed alongside Michael Koman, the show that is currently untitled will feature Domhnall Gleeson from Star Wars and Sabrina Imppacciatorei of the White Lotus, in the lead roles.

Officials say production is set to kick off in July, presenting the same type of mocking, the same faux mockumentary approach as its predecessor.

According to the synopsis this time the film crews will follow the day-to-day operation of "a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters," the synopsis reads.

It’s been more than ten years since the final episode of The Office aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock. In partnership with Universal Television and led by the creative team of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, this new series set in the universe of Dunder Mifflin introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling: a daily newspaper."

Along with both Daniels and Roman are excutive producers Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant (co-creators of the original UK version of The Office), as well as, Howard Klein, Ben Siverman, and Banijay Americas.

So this new spinoff off is set same timelie occupied by the your favorite Dunder Mifflin crew. The spinoff show ceners around the employees of a dying newspaper in the Midwestern U.S.

Thus far, the only confired actors for the new show are Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, although no character detail are available as of yet. However, officials say the show will feature and "ensemble" supporting case.

Peacock has yet to announced a premiere date for the series so be sure to check with NBC Insider for regular updates.

All nine season of The Office are streaming only on Peacock, and for die-hard fans seasons 1-7 of the extended "Superfan episodes" are also available to stream.
