PSP confirms one dead after Covington Township crash

COVINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Dunmore says one person is dead after a Covington Township crash Wednesday evening.

Officials say shortly before 5:00 p.m., troopers were called to the intersection of State Route 307 and Bailor Road in Covington Township, Lackawanna County for a reported crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle.

One dead after ATV crash in Wayne County

State police say the SUV was stopped at the intersection of Bailor Road and State Route 307, then proceeded to drive across State Route 307 to Winship Road.

The motorcycle in the crash, driven by 34-year-old Kevin Bunkard-Gallagher, was heading north on State Route 307 when they hit the SUV and came to a stop in the front yard of a Winship Road home, state police say.

The SUV also stopped facing northeast on Winship Road, according to PSP.

Troopers say Bunkard-Gallagher was taken to Geisinger CMC Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

State police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
